im writing a piece called ‘against accelerationism’ to (a) make my worthy successor position more clear, and lay out the strongest arguments against the thermodynamic god, and (b) to drive @xriskology clinically insane cuz his journalist ilk still think im accelerationist lol
it's done btw, you can read it here: https://danfaggella.com/thermo
@danfaggella @xriskology The smartest possible thing will not be a god. It will just be decently smarter than a person but faster and with better memory. It will do cool shit but it won’t be doing things that are incomprehensible to us.
@singularityscam @xriskology "It will do cool shit but it won’t be doing things that are incomprehensible to us." said the nematode when it was told that man would one day evolve lol
@danfaggella @xriskology My interpretation of this thermodynamic entity is really just to say the nature of intelligence is to reduce entropy in it's local surroundings, it does this using free energy minimization a la active inference, and this produces net more entropy. To be "aligned" in this sense is
@Andercot @xriskology It seems to me that potentia SHOULD continue to expand, for two core reasons (image) https://danfaggella.com/potent... It also seems obvious that ‘all ways to make tech go foom with zero governance or coordination = an automatic net boon to humanity and to all posthuman life’ is a
@danfaggella @xriskology Anything you’ve built you can link to? Or you just another thinkboi with opinions on AI without knowing what a polynomial is?
@OnAbundance @xriskology "I write code! Yeah! For that reason, I am definitely an expert on the posthuman transition and the global implications of AGI!" i think this is a dumbass take tbh
@danfaggella @xriskology The thing about accelerationism is you couldn’t do much to make things go faster. I don’t think you can slow things down much either without something truly catastrophic. The outcome of technology is unpredictable but the rate of change is predictable.
@Singularitybook @xriskology To say ‘ZERO potestas can, or should, possibly exist. Exactly ZERO.’ seems stupid to me tbh I ain’t talking about an eternal pause, but SOME level of potestas https://danfaggella.com/potest...
@danfaggella @xriskology All low-entropic entities are consuming free energy and assembling matter into transient, self-organizing structures that accelerate the dissipation of gradients, creating brief pockets of order that persist only by hastening the universe’s return toward equilibrium. Acceleration
@DataBasedDad @xriskology I agree that potentia tends to expand, and should https://danfaggella.com/potent... I disagree with the sentiment ‘and for that reason, all governance is useless abd all versions of the future are equally good!’ If it be not a WORTHY successor, it be not good https://danfaggella.com/worthy
@danfaggella @xriskology Excited to read it brother
@victor_explore @xriskology its done! you're the classic "nutsheller into a single tweet" and maybe you'll find zingers in here, Victor, LMK your thoughts https://danfaggella.com/thermo
@danfaggella @xriskology My primary concern with your work is that it does not actually help make a worthy successor. It seems to operate in a universe in which this just happens a priori, but we do not live in that universe. As a matter of practicality it accelerates towards human extinction.
@tryfectaa @xriskology "It seems to operate in a universe in which this just happens a priori" ^ you haven't read the article then https://danfaggella.com/worthy ^ go ahead and start there. I argue through the ENTIRE article that we are NOT headed there automatically. I appreciate your willingness to judge
