Future me: you want to run a node? Great! There are 2 main kinds: Core and Knots. The main difference between them is how they approach spam. Core takes a welcoming stance toward spam transactions, whereas Knots filters them out as much as possible. Which one do you want to run?
@SuperTestnet > Core takes a welcoming stance toward spam transactions That is incorrect, that's your self-interpretation, which none of the mainline developers agree with
@adam3us > That is incorrect Why is it incorrect? It seems to me that mempools welcome all transactions which they do not filter, because they (1) solicit them from their peers (2) store them (3) and make copies of them to share with others. If that is not a welcoming stance, what is?
@SuperTestnet any internet protocol can be abused by hiding data in headers, fields, keys, hashes. you wouldn't expect any of those protocol developers accepting your assertion that the developers welcomed it or that the protocol was designed for it. that's just nonsense.
@adam3us If the protocol had policies that filtered out abusive data, and then its developers removed that policy, such that now, the software now treats the abusive data identically to the data its users want, I would assert that the developers started welcoming the abusive data.
@SuperTestnet @adam3us Do airlines *welcome* people to smoke cigarettes on planes? Why do plane bathrooms have cigarette disposal ashtrays?
@ProofOfCash @adam3us > Why do plane bathrooms have cigarette disposal ashtrays? Some airlines may allow smoking, and others may not. If the plane-maker wants his planes to be useful to both, it makes sense to include an ashtray for those that allow smoking and a no-smoking light for those that don't
@SuperTestnet @adam3us No commercial airlines allow smoking on board. So again I ask, why have an ashtray on a plane when no airlines allow smoking?
@ProofOfCash @adam3us Charter Jet One is a commercial airline and they allow smoking on board
@SuperTestnet @adam3us Charter Jet One is not a commercial airline. Private entities are also not the majority of purchasers of aircraft. Therefore, it makes no sense for manufacturers to add this as a standard feature to all aircraft nor for the FAA to mandate it. Try again. Hint: Varig Flight 820.
