I find it so strange that American institutes and companies argue so confidently that our export controls have failed — while PRC executives openly admit that they work. DeepSeek CEO Liang Wenfeng, 2023: “Money has never been the problem for us; bans on shipments of advanced

@michaelsobolik Within the same post we have "export controls work" and "the US government didn’t seriously attempt to cripple Huawei". What was the point of export controls if not to cripple Huawei? How are they "working" and what is their strategic purpose?

@michaelsobolik It is always good to challenge and debate arguments others put forth, @michaelsobolik, but one concern is you quoted two Chinese tech executives on what they think does and does not work in terms of US policy. Is that a potential problem? Thanks.

@michaelsobolik I’m getting rather tired of the argument that export controls have had the opposite effect intended. It’s the least convincing and least substantiated line of argument.

@michaelsobolik India, Brazil, and China keep moving ahead by building tech resilience. Export controls often push rivals to innovate faster, not slow them down.

@michaelsobolik You do know that DeepSeek and Tencent is trailing Huawei Chips and other cn GPUs?

@michaelsobolik Chinese always says "Business is bad" In good time, or bad time. You will never know what is their situation & condition.

@michaelsobolik You will continue to find it strange because you’re disconnected from the reality.

@michaelsobolik There is a conflict of interest between AI companies and AI chip manufacturers. The US export controls have hindered the development of Chinese AI firms, which might otherwise prefer Nvidia over Huawei, while simultaneously fostering the growth of Chinese AI chip companies.

@michaelsobolik What's wrong with other countries developing in AI?

@michaelsobolik Is it your great idea to have export controls? You seems very dumb
