Export controls did not help Huawei, certainly not directly. It hurt Huawei relative to other competing Chinese tech companies (that were not subject to those restrictions) epecially in certain markets where it was forced to pull back, at least temporarily, like consumer

@GlennLuk The US sanctions totally backfired. They didn't break Huawei, they just made China's tech sector stronger and more self-reliant. A classic strategic blunder.
