CAPTAINCY THREAD It was a tricky GW9 in terms of captaincy, and we are determined to better our record of 57 captaincy returns in the last 74 GWsđ A whopping ~77% score! Give this a read to get your #GW10 captain rightâ Follow us @thefplbois for more such contentđ
GW9 was a bit of a bump on the road for popular captains. #GW10 brings us a slightly later deadline, but you've got a chance to pick and set a captain, well in advance! Here are three picks who could get you back on track:
Haaland vs AVL (H) Well, it's no surprise that the Robot is a feature on this week's shortlist. Although his scoring streak came to an end in GW9, a home fixture against BOU is up next, to kickstart a new streak! Man City are 1st for goals scored, 4th for xG & 2nd for Big
Big Chances Created and most of it is down to the Big Man! Bournemouth, on the other hand, have had a phenomenal start to the season that they find themselves above City in the PL table after 9 games. They rank 7th for xGC and have kept 2 clean sheets in their last five games.
Haaland is PL's top-scorer but also leads the xG table & is 2nd for Shots on Target per 90. With BOU having conceded most goals to strikers this season, we're sure that he will be looking to better his record of just 1G+1A from 6 games against the Cherries & we can't wait!
Mbeumo vs NFO (A) United are talk of the town again with their hattrick of PL wins & are finally starting to show value for their impressive stats which have them 7th for goals scored, 2nd for xG & 4th for Big Chances Created. Their opponents in GW10 are Nott. Forest, who are
yet to win since GW1. They are 3rd from bottom on the xGC table and haven't kept a clean sheet so far. After scoring a brace in GW9, a lot of managers have already brought in Mbeumo & we can totally see why! He is 6th in the goal scoring charts, 13th for xG & 3rd for xA so far.
5 G+A from 9 games is a brilliant start to a season where fixtures were tricky. While he only has scored once against Forest in five previous outings, we're excited to see if he will be able to extend his scoring streak to three consecutive PL games, this time around in GW10.
Gabriel vs BUR (A) Our shortlist for this week would be incomplete without a pick from the league leaders Arsenal, who are 5th for goals scored, 5th for xG & 7th for Big Chances Created. Their GW10 fixture is away to Burnley, whose defensive numbers are amongst the worst for
xGC with only two clean sheets to their credit. A name that weâre seriously considering is Gabriel, who has been in exceptional form, helping Arsenal secure six clean sheets already. He is the most-owned defender and his xGi of 0.96 may not be the best amongst defenders, but
the DEFCON and bonus point potential (already 11 this season) makes him way more attractive as a captaincy option. When thereâs no clear attacker that stands out from Arsenal, going for a defender from the best defence in the league surely is the right move? Weâll know soon.

@thefplbois Donât really get this tbh. In a game where Gabriel is unlikely to get DEFCON as Burnley are awful whatâs his ceiling here really? Heâd have to get a clean sheet, DEFCON AND an attacking return to make this worthwhile. Is he likelier to get a goal than say Saka for example?
@Mike87_United Yes. Burnley concede through set pieces Arsenal score through set pieces.
@thefplbois Well done!
@thefplbois Gabriel đ
@thefplbois What do you think about Saka? He's one of Arsenal's biggest threats in open play and can easily make a big contribution after an early goal. I think he's a much better captain than Mbeumo.
@thefplbois @FPLGOAT7 DONT TAKE THE ARMBAND OFF HAALAND YOU WILL BE PUNISHED
@thefplbois In a dilemme here guys. Do I sub Caicedo for Grealish? Tarkowski for Senesi (City are way too good of an attacking side for Bou to keep a CS) Any other thoughts?
@thefplbois Gabriel What about Igor Thiago or mbeumo
@thefplbois Sesko thoughts?
@thefplbois Wildcard draft?
