72. Land Tank was a great origin trait, especially with the artifact boost in Risen. I did not deserve to get clowned on by my Day One Vow team for hyping it up.
@luminatettv @J12Apollo 73. Salvation’s Edge deserved WAY better and more meta relevant loot.
74. I kinda miss the Eververse lootboxes from D1. I really liked that they were earnable each week too.
75. The Oryx raid fight in D1 kinda sucks compared to the D2 fight. (I prefer the grittier visuals though.)
76. Destiny 1 Crota's End is leagues and bounds ahead of Destiny 2 Crota's End. It kinda got butchered in the remake.
77. The Desert Perpetual, and its epic variant, are both top 5 raids in the franchise.
78. Cutthroat combatants should've stayed at -40 as an aspirational feat. A different, easier variant of the feat at -30 should've been added ALONGSIDE it.
79. I think the amount of hate streamers got for hiding their stream during raid races was wholly undeserved. It is a very competitive race. Of course they want to take as many advantages as they can get.
80. That being said, I do think that the solution Bungie implemented for Epic Desert Perpetual was a good compromise. It definitely massively improved the viewing experience.
81. Battlegrounds are some of the best seasonal content, and I'd take them any day compared to most other seasonal activities. Defiant battlegrounds still suck though.
82. The seasonal upgrade grids were not as bad as people made them out to be.
83. I think the portal can be great, it was just implemented in a confusingly bad state.
84. Party modes, like Relic, Team Scorched and Mayhem, are way more fun than most other Crucible modes.
85. I think Luke Smith was a good game director. I liked his more MMO-style vision for the game.
86. Raids, Dungeons and Trials, should be the only way to hit max light level in Destiny.
87. Salvation's Edge should've had a 2nd Witness phase after defeating it the first time.
88. Some of the less complex raids are a lot of fun. Makes me wish we had raid lairs again so we could get smaller, low complexity raids alongside the crazy raids they put out with expansions now. DSC, Leviathan, Scourge, King's Fall, all low complexity but all very fun.
89. Champions are a very good system and I would've loved to see it built upon. I especially loved when champions were high priority targets you and your team all had to focus on at once in old school GMs.
90. I think Destiny 2 going free to play probably hurt the amount of content we got for some of free to play playlists, like Crucible, Strikes and Gambit, and that sometimes makes me wish the game didn't go free to play.
91. Destiny 2's world just doesn't feel as alive as Destiny 1's world. I think it's mostly to do with the amount of social spaces in Destiny 1 compared to Destiny 2.
92. Dungeon keys were a good system. You pay money for the dungeons and it in turn funds Bungie to make more dungeons, which are consistently great content. The only thing that sucks about them is they never go on sale.
93. Season of the Hunt had some underrated bangers, like the Coup de Grâce mission, Harbinger mission and the loot focusing system. Also the weapon models looked really cool.
94. I know raid reprisals are free, but at this point I'd actually pay good money for Wrath, or most of the vaulted raids to return to the game. (Despite the fact I've already paid for them once)
95. Match Game was a good modifier in GM Nightfalls. It encouraged using a more diverse set of weapons and abilities to cover different enemy shield types.
96. If you don't know what to do, you shouldn't join LFGs marked with kwtd.
97. Despite how simple they are, dungeons like Shattered Throne and Spire of the Watcher are some of the most fun to replay. It can be very fun to speed blitz a dungeon.
98. Despite the hate it gets, Destiny 2 is genuinely one of the best games in the industry and it has a hell of a lot of unrealised potential.
99. If there was a significant benefit from dropping last gen support, Bungie would’ve probably already done it.
100. In terms of system reworks and introductions, Shadowkeep was actually a really good year. Armor 3.0, champions, Nightfall: The Ordeal, warmind cell mods, GM Nightfalls, umbral focusing etc.
101. Mementos are incredibly similar to the consumable shaders from D2Y1.
102. Curse of Osiris was not as bad as people say it was, it was the state of the game that was dragging Destiny 2 down at the time. The destination was beautiful, the strikes were great, the heroic adventures were really cool and the weapon quests were great.
103. The Almighty event was awesome despite how long we had to wait. I still fondly remember that day.
104. Vesper’s and Sundered had great day one and solo flawless experiences, but they are not enjoyable to replay.
105. Grasp of Avarice is a bottom 3 dungeon.
106. I'm fine with Bungie not releasing a state of the game so long as they're hard at work implementing features based on critical feedback.
107. Destiny 1 feels awful to play after playing Destiny 2 on PC. Being locked at low FOV, 30 fps, the lack of QoL improvements and having to use a controller makes it really difficult to play.
108. The non-Age of Triumph Crota armor is way better than the Age of Triumph Crota armor.
109. Bungie should do more missions that take place in reused raid locations.
110. Class identity is overrated. I was so incredibly sick of being the "punch things" class all the time.
111. Most weapons will never be worth farming.
112. Garden of Salvation is one of the most enjoyable raids in the game, the hate it gets is undeserved.
113. Repository is by far the worst encounter in all of Salvation's Edge (like B- or C+ imo).
114. If Bungie makes a higher difficulty variant of Last Wish, they should 100% nuke the Riven cheese, like they did with Pantheon.
115. I really didn't mind the D2Y1 bright engram system, it was the XP throttling that I had a major issue with.
116. Season of the Deep was one of my least favorite seasons by FAR.
117. I'd rather get 2 Shattered Throne/Pit of Heresy scale dungeons a year than 1 Vesper's Host/Sundered Doctrine scale dungeon.
118. A lot of you Godslayers are frauds who don’t kwtd
The likes on the main post are slowing down now. I’ll keep posting hot takes as they come in, but I’d appreciate a follow if you enjoyed reading the takes 🫡 Also I’d like to direct peoples attention over to the new post: go drop YOUR hot takes on it!
119. A lot of y'all need a break from the game but you won't admit it.
120. A lot of people only hate certain raids because they're bad at them, or they're annoying to LFG.
121. Seals don't really give a good gauge on skill anymore, most of them are incredibly easy and are just tedious to complete.
122. Root of Nightmares caused an immense amount of damage to the LFG scene.
123. I actually quite enjoyed Season of the Worthy. With a few tweaks it could've actually been good.
124. From a gameplay standpoint, Lightfall's campaign was fine. I really didn't mind the strand tutorial nature of the campaign.
@LukeCB14 I've been playing through D1 lately and... I mean yeah, but so do so many FPS games in general. I don't think this is a Destiny-specific thing
@LukeCB14 Still can't wait to enjoy the game, as it is, soon.
@LukeCB14 You just gotta mentally adjust to playing 30 FPS again, after a few hours of playtime it feels natural again (until you go back to D2)
@LukeCB14 5/10
