/ The fatal capsizing of a Russian floating crane in Sevastopol has highlighted the inability of the Black Sea Fleet's principal shipyard to build the cranes needed for the construction of new naval vessels, as a critical Russian commentary notes. ⬇️
/ The PK-400 "Sevastopol" floating crane capsized at the Sevastopol Marine Shipyard in Sevastopol's South Bay on 28 October 2025. The crane has been under construction since 2017, was launched in October 2019, and its 400-ton lifting boom was installed in August 2021.
/ As 'Military Informant' highlights, this is not the shipyard's first failed crane-building project: "This situation is the final demonstration of Sevmorzavod's true ability to build anything worthwhile."
/ "The company spent eight years building this unfortunate floating crane (just think about that timeframe), but ultimately capsized and sank it without ever being completed.
/ "Besides this unfortunate PK-400, Sevmorzavod was attempting to build another heavy floating crane, the PK-700 "Grigoriy Prosyankin," which they also failed to complete after seven years.
/ "They were forced to literally cut it up piece by piece and transport it by water to Severodvinsk for completion at Sevmash. To put this into perspective, the US built its Nimitz-class aircraft carriers faster than this plant could build floating cranes.
/ "Thus, the Sevastopol Marine Plant completely failed the construction program for both heavy floating cranes.The key problem is that the Admiralty Shipyards and Sevmash needed them for the construction of other naval ships,…
/ …so repeated delays in the construction of the floating cranes (and now the absence of one of them) will inevitably impact the delivery schedules of other ships at these shipyards." /end Source: https://t.me/milinfolive/15939...
@ChrisO_wiki Funding for the crane was siphoned off to build someone's yacht with golden toilets. The crane had to be built with the funds that remained and was thus merely Potemkin.
@ChrisO_wiki Superpower my ass.😂
