Trans sisters. I’m pretty sure I was wrong. I am sorry. I genuinely thought that as a trans woman, if ceded some points with the gender critical crowd we could have a healthier conversation and arrive at better public policy. The problem is, they are getting crazier and more

2/ I consider my business settled with all trans sisters. If anyone wants to reset things, unblock and move forward, I am happy to do that.

@BriannaWu Sometimes the hardest thing to say is “I was wrong,” but it’s also one of the most important. All we can do is show each other grace and move forward 💕

@AriDrennen We need to find a smarter way to advocate for ourselves though. This is clearly not working.

@BriannaWu Brianna for whatever it’s worth, I think on this issue and many others, online algorithms break our brains and warp our sense of what’s real. I think most people see this issue the way you do: there may be some areas where they’re uncomfortable or opposed (trans women in women’s

@JillFilipovic Jill , coming from you this is the breath of sanity I desperately needed. I think we’ve got to find a way to advocate for those policies. I just have no idea how to build a coalition.

@BriannaWu Hmm. Does this mean you're officially passing the peace pipe to all of the trans women whom you've said in the past aren't "real" trans women?

@BrendanJRoss I don’t believe I’ve ever said that. Who do you mean specifically?

@BriannaWu When a pendulum swings too far to one side, the reactionary energy will swing it back past the middle ground to the other side. Only after that happens will the energy of that push subside & the pendulum can come back closer to the middle.

@lau_guerreiro It’s a nice sentiment, but how do we actually get there?

@BriannaWu You’re engaging in realpolitik, much of the community is engaging in theology. I hope your version leads to better definitions and clearer rights, hiwever difficukt the path is.

@BriannaWu I think it’s concerning how less open to compromise folks are getting on all issues. It doesn’t seem like we’re going down a good path.

@BriannaWu These people dont do compromise, Brianna. I've learnt the same lessons. Thank you for the follow, by the way.

@PompeySteph My hope is we can do compromise with each other and understand we’re not always going to agree

@BriannaWu You can advocate for a moderate position without giving ground to extremists (on either side) in the spirit of a compromise that they never wanted.

@Eli_B_Again Correct.

@BriannaWu they don't care about 'men in women's spaces' or 'trans in sports'. it was never really about that. they simply don't want us to exist in any context, they only use those talking points to try to convert normies

@BriannaWu tbh idk what to make of this considering how much dogmatic ammunition you’ve given their wing. consider how you can make the most impact going forward and radicalize yourself. demand nothing less than liberation.

@__tux I’m never going to be some radical calling for liberation.

@BriannaWu Girl…

@Ash_Lee_IRL This is not what I thought or said. I shall repeat. The middle does not like our extreme policies. Since there is no vehicle for the middle, I am going to stop thinking TERFs want anything but our destruction. Does not make these policies smart.

@BriannaWu Blowback for the evil, censorial, reason defying, life destroying lunacy we all endured for much to long

@Buck_E_Wilde This is the kind of extremist rhetoric that’s impossible to compromise with.

@BriannaWu Brianna, the majority of normal people in the west are moderate on this and just about every issue. The goal of public policy has to be to reach those people so they vote for our candidates and we get the sane results they already want. Of course you won’t persuade transphobes.

@RioVeradonir You know I agree.
