I am deeply saddened to hear about the stabbings in Huntingdon. My thoughts go out to all those affected. Two suspects have been immediately arrested and taken into custody. I am receiving regular updates on the investigation. I urge people to avoid comment and

@ShabanaMahmood As we can no longer rely on the Government or the police to keep us safe what are you going to do to allow us to protect ourselves? At a minimum we should be able to carry pepper spray. It's legal to carry in many European countries.

@ShabanaMahmood People are tired of hearing the same template response after every tragedy. What they want to know is what will change. How many more attacks on trains, streets or stations before we talk about prevention, not condolences?

@ShabanaMahmood Has the Home Office not learnt from previous incidents that the public should be told as much as possible as soon as possible.? Delays on basic information only leads to more fear and speculation

@ShabanaMahmood Shabana Mahmood, Home Sec extraordinaire! "Deeply saddened" by Huntingdon stabbings, yet your big move is telling us to shush. Brilliant! While knives run wild, you’re perfecting the art of saying nada. 51k+ knife offences last year—where’s your plan? #ShabanaMahmood #KnifeCrime

@ShabanaMahmood The country is in chaos and all you've got for us are empty platitudes. Why haven't any of you said Wayne Broadhurst's name? He was just walking his dog ffs, that could've been any one of us!

@ShabanaMahmood “I urge people to avoid comment and speculation at this early stage”. Why? Provided people are not inciting violence or prejudicing the outcome of the legal process, why shouldn’t we comment and/or speculate on a matter of great public interest? Are you suggesting censoring

@ShabanaMahmood This is aging well

@ShabanaMahmood Shabana, "deeply saddened" and thoughts with the victims, classic politician platitudes while you slap a gag order on the public with your "avoid comment and speculation" bollocks. Fancy that from the Home Sec who's all tough talk on halving knife crime and securing borders,

@ShabanaMahmood You said nothing about Wayne Broadhurst, he was just walking his dog in broad daylight when he was murdered. Why so quiet?

@ShabanaMahmood Knife crime down you said a few days ago, when Wayne Broadhurst was brutally murdered near his home and now a couple of days later 10 people are stabbed on a train. When will you wake up and see we have a massive problem in this country and stop trying to gloss over it.

@ShabanaMahmood You feeling sad frankly is irrelevant. Your ‘thoughts’, again, irrelevant. Regular updates 😟 oh whatever. Avoid comment. Really 🤔 ok Well I have a comment. This country is terrifying, utterly terrifying to live in now. Even the simplest of joys like walking your dog, gets

@ShabanaMahmood If you want us to avoid commenting, you should tell us who was arrested, how many victims there are and start acting with some transparency. It is because of our distrust of people like you, that we have to comment and find this out ourselves

@ShabanaMahmood This is the part where they call it an "isolated incident" and "someone with mental health issues". Whilst ignoring the REAL issue once again. Anyone eles teird of this? I'm old enough to remember when this would have been made a day of national mourning. Now its just a typical

@ShabanaMahmood I'll speculate :- lessons will be learned where is the love? Far Right thugs Its only a small minority Smash the Gangs Release the Sausages Renewal over Decline Island of Strangers

@ShabanaMahmood Thoughts and prayers won’t fix repeated security failures, Home Secretary. If public safety keeps collapsing under your watch, maybe it’s time to stop issuing statements and start accepting responsibility. Resign !

@ShabanaMahmood I am deeply saddened by the [latest violent event] in [location]. My thoughts go out to all those affected. [Number] suspect(s) has/have been [arrested, neutralised, accidentally released] I remind all of you that commenting about it is a thought crime.

@ShabanaMahmood People only speculate when there is an information vacuum. It is your duty to see that the public is given as much information as possible as quickly as possible. If you conceal information that could be made public then you are responsible for the speculation that creates.

@ShabanaMahmood Yes please keep us informed on this one. It appears you failed to comment on Wayne Broadhurst earlier this week. Perhaps you would like to comment now?

@ShabanaMahmood Avoid commenting when my fellow citizens are being attacked? Why do you need us to be silent? How come it is ok for you to comment?

@ShabanaMahmood I think the country is a bit beyond hearing about 'deeply saddened' Labour politicians to be honest.

@ShabanaMahmood Rather than telling people not to speculate maybe you could take the action needed to stop it happening.

@ShabanaMahmood With the lack of official information we are all going to speculate - it's human nature

@ShabanaMahmood Platitudes in place of facts, and a lecture against speculation when none are given. The surest way to invite conjecture is to forbid it!!

@ShabanaMahmood @DawgJra The only thing missing from this post is “we don’t have a motive”🙄

@ShabanaMahmood Acknowledge the stabbing but don’t talk about the attacker . Just “don’t look back in anger” and wait for your turn to be stabbed.

@ShabanaMahmood What you doing to protect the British public from these constant attacks. It’s not just on the train it’s multiple incidents. People aren’t safe leaving the house anymore. I don’t even want to get the train for work anymore.

@ShabanaMahmood People won’t need to ‘speculate’ if you give us information This week we’ve seen stabbing to death dog walker Uxbridge, stabbing to death bank clerk Derby, screwdriver stabbing female to death Walsall ‘asylum hotel Who are the 2 arrested? What’s happening UK?

@ShabanaMahmood We've moved beyond the 'deeply saddened' stage love. This horror is being normalised. You can't walk your dog, go to a music concert, dance class, school, Christmas market & now catch a bloody train But we know what the response will be: 'diversity is our strength', 'white

@ShabanaMahmood The last I checked we’re still a free country. As your boss said to Trump “we’ve had free speech for a long time”. So I think we’ll all comment if we want to, if that’s ok.

@ShabanaMahmood There wouldn't be a need for speculation if you released the information.

@ShabanaMahmood The perfectly normal response for any decent human being, is to speculate going on past incidents and likelihood of the perpetrator. When will it really be ‘Enough is Enough’ for this Govt. How many more innocent lives will it take ??? I’m so Sickened by the carnage being

@ShabanaMahmood What are you talking about? My sister and her two boys live in Cambridge, when I heard that yet again some bastard was knifing everyone I completely panicked! They weren’t on that train thank fuck. “Speculation”? You are a paid public servant stop patronising your employers. 👍🏻

@ShabanaMahmood Every. Single. Day

@ShabanaMahmood Cross party. without blaming each other. Get a grip. Forget party lines. ANYTHING. GET A GRIP OF THE COUNTRY

@ShabanaMahmood Telling the public not to comment on a mass casualty attack on a public train is outrageous

@ShabanaMahmood We’re lambs to the slaughter of these people. We want action not words.
