Got a random game design idea for Arc Raiders... Read this and let me know: Should they change the final extraction mechanic? Now I immediately want to say No. It's fine how it is. But after really thinking about it, I believe, design wise, it's flawed. Because the mechanics
@CohhCarnage I 1000000000% agree. Because the way things are, if they don't change things, I will not be playing for very long. I am already at the end of my rope with this game. I got killed by "friendly" people 3 times in a row, then I died to a rocketeer right after, losing everything...
@reakhs To be clear, I'm only talking about the 4 second period between a successful extract interior panel activation and the round ending. Everything else is 100% fair game. š
@CohhCarnage I feel like people who does this are trying to avoid PvP during the match, but they want the challenges done that says āā deal X amount of damage to Raiders with a heavy ammo weapon āā so they donāt really care about people losing their gear as long as they get their challenge ..
@Shrenkoo Oh... interesting. I didnt consider them just doing challenges like "Deal 600 damage to Raiders with light ammo", etc. Huh. That seems... again... unintended. š
@CohhCarnage Hey stop trying to get back to old twitter, this is x. Only streamer drama and polarizing political views are allowed these days. Sorry, I don't make the rules.
@iamtheonlyjohn2 This is fair. š
@CohhCarnage I donāt love this idea and the main reason for that is because those bodies are still lootable. If you kill someone in the extract their body stays, so someone on the outside can still loot. Lets say you kill someone as they are typing and finish them off right before the gates
@CohhCarnage The key issue is you can't loot a downed player. Why not split the difference and let players loot downed players without finishing them off (in all situations). That way you can betray in the elevator, get some loot and the victim still keeps some loot as well.
@CohhCarnage I thought you were taking a different route here, and going to purpose some mechanic where the elevator would delay for a period that you could loot the griefed player. Which I wouldnāt get behind. I think, round ends when elevator descends, not when doors close. Therefore, if
@CohhCarnage I think you are forgetting that you should pay it forward. Just like when you are in the Starbucks line and you pay for the car behind youās coffee. Just think about how happy the next team will be when there is a fully juiced body in the elevator waiting for trade ups before
@CohhCarnage I'm with this 100% - you are technically only 'knocked out' and there's no fighting in Sperenza - So why would the 'town' accept someone looting someone else coming down in the elevator? When the green lights are on, and the doors are closing = Everyone is safe. In the 2 minute
@CohhCarnage Actually I think it should be the other way around. Keep the "being able to get killed in that 4 second window." But... allow the person that managed to kill you in the elevator to loot your body. Fair right? Keeps everyone on their toes and at least allows the better player the
@CohhCarnage I think the fact that you can evacuate while downed is in the game for this exact reason. I think that is plenty buffer while still providing a bit of risk which is what makes this game so great!
@CohhCarnage It doesn't bother me too much, but you definitely have a point. I'm indifferent, but I could see where they prevent this and it's a good thing. There's already enough opportunities for griefing on the map in general, heck they usually just mow you down as you approach the exit.
@CohhCarnage Alternatively, introduce a tarkov style "insurance" system. That way you would at least not lose your own gear. I don't really want to discourage ANY sort of pvp, even if it's something that minute. I've had my revenge on someone those last 4 seconds before. Don't take that away
@CohhCarnage I like this @CohhCarnage , had someone down me after I triggered the extraction. Used the last 4 seconds to kill me..for what? Doesn't get time to loot my corpse. Think it would be cool to track your killers and be notified if you've ended up in a game with them too. Side idea
@CohhCarnage If I shoot you during that 4 second wait to leave topside it's pretty much exclusively because I didn't want to be a dick but I need my deck challenges done. But we will both extract with all our gear. Sorry for the panic attack I induced.
@CohhCarnage I think a better idea would be making call time for the train, bunker, vents etc longer and making the button pushing window to extract inside the bunkers faster. That way thereās less time to grief but still having a window where extractions can be contested.
@CohhCarnage If anything, I would like to see the opposite of this. I would like a mechanic similar to Hunt: Showdown where the extract can be blocked/prevented so that people stop extracting in front of you when you're trying to actively engage.
@CohhCarnage This changes nothing? Outside the fact that I don't like your suggestion, you're just moving the 'trolling window' 4 seconds earlier.
@CohhCarnage The fear at the very end is so much fun though. It feels good when people try to grief you, but are interrupted. Or if they down you, but you laugh as the game fades to black. Itās so much fun. Itās high voltage. Thereās plenty of counterplay to avoid dying like that.
@CohhCarnage LMAO hell nah. Why do you think I punch you during the green light ? To loot you ? Hell nah, it's just pure evil hehe
@CohhCarnage Instead of 4 make it 30 and you donāt need to stand there and press the computer, itās just automatic. This would cause, mad dashes to the box, time for looting, wild tension waiting for just the right time to get into the box.
@CohhCarnage This is such a flawed take itās insane. If you exit the elevator and let it reset you can go back in on a fresh call and loot them. But sometimes I do just wanna kill you and make you lose your loot. Nothing is wrong with that in this type of game, itās funny af tbh
@CohhCarnage Really like the concept, they could use the "you were killed by a cheater" item delivery system to send you the loot! I would like to see a "First Dibs" system that allows the alive raider/raiders who got out to check over the knocked out bodies first possibly.
@CohhCarnage For all intents and purposes, if you're down you're dead. The fact that you can still press the button is meant to be the mechanic. It lets you have a small chance to still make it. It's the bonus they gave us. Not the norm.
@CohhCarnage I totally see your point and for the most part it's probably fine from a design perspective. I will say I do think it's flawed in saying that you gain nothing other than exp by denying loot. By design in an extractor other players getting stronger is a direct threat to you.
@CohhCarnage Once the interior panel is activated, you should be able to keep your items. Maybe you can get downed for XP but eliminations seem excessively harsh. You donāt even gain anything as the attacker
@CohhCarnage I donāt think it needs to be changed, people just need to learn how to properly extract. Thereās an integrated auto timer for it closing, instead of mad dashing to get stuck in a button press animation, hangout and wait, check your surroundings etc.
@CohhCarnage It would fix the possibility of losing all that youāve looted but thatās kinda the point is it not? Whether you avoid conflict, get what you need and get out safely or you fight tooth and nail all the way to the extraction. Thatās the fun of the game.
@CohhCarnage I do like the thrill of not knowing if you are safe or not, but you still gotta extract and find out. Maybe a system where you can place a bounty on a pvp raider that killed you. Example: - the bounty is silent, meaning no map marker or hud or anything. - add 3 items + cash.
