So, at this point in time (episode 6 season 2) it's pretty fair to assume that Angel knows he's been under the effect of the hypnosis on multiple occasions, as can be seen in the montage shown during the scene with Vox #angeldust #HazbinHotel 1/10 🧵
The main problem is, I don't think he's really able to discern the times where he was hypnotized from the ones he wasn't, and the fact that Vox literally told him there "wasn't a moment he hasn't been watching" (through Angel's eyes) definitely doesn't help 2/10 🧵
From Angel's perspective, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF HIS ACTIONS since the first hypnosis might as well have been an order from Vox that he HAD to follow, so, when he'll manage to break out of it, he is going to be doubting EVERYTHING that happened ever since 3/10 🧵
And when I say everything, I mean E V E R Y T H I N G, including his interactions with all the other characters. Were they ever real, did he really form a genuine relationship with these people, or was he just LITERALLY forced to obey someone else's will? 4/10 🧵
It's even more heartbreaking when you realize that basically every single positive interaction Angel ever had with the other members of the Hotel takes place AFTER episode 4 and specifically after Poison, which most likely marks the start of the hypnosis 5/10 🧵
Loser Baby, the turning point of his relationship with Husk, happened only a few hours after that, and even the moment where he makes up with Charlie (with whom, previously, he had only ever had neutral interactions AT BEST) takes place later in the same episode 6/10 🧵
The same goes for Pentious (towards whom he starts behaving in a friendly manner only around mid-to-late season 1, except for a small scene at the end of episode 3) and Vaggie (the few times we see them interacting positively are all in season 2) 7/10 🧵
So, while I'm sure he's gonna distance himself from the Hotel and his friends (which, at this point, feels pretty inevitable) mostly because he feels guilty for having "betrayed" them, I also think he's gonna do it because his relationships with them will feel "tainted" 8/10 🧵
The first time he let himself open up and become close to someone after years, if not decades, might not have even been a choice of his own... yeah, that's probably gonna fuck him up REAL bad 9/10 🧵
And, while I think that his relationships with the others are genuine (on both sides), it's gonna take him a while to realize that, as, once again, he can't know exactly what Vox told him to do while he was controlling him, if Angel befriending them was part of his plan 10/10 🧵
LMAO I'M SO SORRY
Penso di star traumatizzando un po' troppe persone con questo thread lol
Uh, that's actually a really good question! I don't think Charlie and Vaggie ever told him considering that they were fighting about the exorcist thing when they came back, and then after they made up they were probably too focused on training for the final battle to remember
I'M SORRYYYY
😭😭
Oh don't make me think about this, if Vox really caused permanent damage to Angel I'm just gonna have to break the laws of physics and enter the series to get rid of him myself LMAO No but seriously, great questions, I hope they get answered in the future (probably next season)
Gosh yeah, that would actually be brutal
Yeah, I've seen a couple people point that out! There's a lot of foreshadowing both in that episode and in episode 4 too (I made a thread about that a couple days ago), so people calling it bad writing are just not really paying attention to the details in season 1 imo
Yeah I honestly agree with you, Angel's absolutely not ready to be redeemed imo. If someone were to be redeemed at the end of season 2 or beginning of season 3 I think it's most likely to be either Cherri or Husk. Angel still has a long way to go
