If the priority is growth then this makes little sense. There are lots of tax cuts that can drive growth (including SDLT, which the Tories previously said they wanted to abolish) The evidence suggests IHT abolition has little or no impact on growth.
It’s pretty depressing to have two parties who say they’re committed to growth, but one raises tax in a way that damages growth, and the other refuses to cut tax in a way that boosts growth.

All tax cuts “put money in people’s pockets”. Pick the ones that generate growth.
