It has come to my attention that some people do not know the potato leek soup story. Gather ye 'round, dear ones, and hear what a culinary disaster I can be.
The pot had a lid, the story thus has a boring ending, the kitchen ceiling still had scorch marks on it when we sold the house, and I stopped trying to put bacon in my soup. The end.
Addendum: my potato leek soup has been practiced and perfected and is VERY VERY GOOD and it no longer catches fire hardly ever.
@seananmcguire If someone would like to cross-stitch “Beeare the Hamcano” with flames shooting out of a pot, I would buy it.
@seananmcguire “Catches fire hardly ever” is a good motto to have
@seananmcguire This why I leave the cooking to @ChazBrenchley, because he hardly ever catches things on fire.
@seananmcguire Thank you for this, I needed a smile today
@seananmcguire HAMCANO. I love your way with words <3 Also, now I want either bacon, or potato soup....
@seananmcguire Huh. I have tried to make bacon-free potato and leek soup and it just comes out bland. OTOH, that is a new and different way to set the kitchen on fire and I respect that.
@seananmcguire I'm agreeing with everyone else that really wants the recipe. Pretty please? I love potato leek soup so much
@seananmcguire Thank you, Seanan! This was great. ... And I'd be warned not to be injuring myself by eating/drinking during the reading of your epic cooking adventure.
@seananmcguire This is an awesome story. Schmaltz makes a great substitute for bacon and is, um, less flammable?
@seananmcguire That. Is. Amazing :)
@seananmcguire Okay but now I'm gonna need that recipe!!
@seananmcguire I’m so glad this story has a happy ending. My first cooking experience, in junior high, ended with a plate full of spaghetti and sauce in my gym bag.
@seananmcguire I am both very impressed you created a fuel air explosion with bacon and leeks and very keen on hearing the recipe…
@seananmcguire OMG! I’m grateful it didn’t end up with you getting hurt!! That’s some danger, girl!
