So it’s the end of Earth? In the future obviously. This isn’t the death sentence people might think. It’s 2540 - so when the Planetary Defense Coalition notices -

a sizeable black hole not too far from the edge of our solar system, it’s a problem but they know immediately that we have time.

Not a lot of time. But time. After running the calculations two, five, and then ten more times, the answer is clear; we have three years before it’s -

- going to be close enough to throw everything out of whack and send the Earth plummeting into the far reaches of space with the force of its gravity, where the population - if they survive the force of it - will quickly freeze to death.

The plans come together quickly after that. There are emergency contingencies for this. Funds are diverted, nations come together, and resources are combined. 

But in the end there’s no way to contain a black hole so big in only three years. Maybe humanity could do it, but -
