Seeing how often this happens, at this point it's obviously Flick's instructions.

But the load it puts on Pedri &amp; Casado, who have to not only block the central zone, but also help the full-backs wide when in 1v2, is massive ! Sometimes even the CBs get out of position to help. 

I get Flick's idea, to have forward passing options for the counter, maybe discourage the opponent full-backs from attacking, but not sure the advantages outweight the risks. I think that's why Yan Couto was subbed in the 2nd half, they were very productive from their right side.

it reminds me of the overwhelming efforts Iniesta had to make on the left wing (Rakitic too, on the right side) under Luis Enrique, who used to do something similar, leaving neymar suarez messi upfront for the potential counter.
