toxic edgy ketamine queers deserve more arthouse anime than just serial experiments lain and EVA. here are some to consider to base ur personalities around instead: 🧵

Ergo Proxy. Grimdark cyberpunk series. very cold, existential, great aesthetics for goth baddies with catholic guilt who see themselves as robots.

Wolf's Rain. urban fantasy action series where people transform into wolves. sort of a noir thriller that cares deeply about animals. obvious headshot here for the therians and puppygirls.

ef - A Tale of Memories. early Shaft series, interwoven romantic drama with gorgeous visuals. mix of stories, all kinda focused around the idealization of romance and the paradox of vulnerability. exceptionally harrowing for the BPD shawties.

Oniisama e. my personal favorite. lesbian romance anime based off a manga from the 70s by the rose of versailles author. study of capitalism through the microcosm of a catholic girl's school where everyone is addicted to drugs or incestuous or obsessed or all three. great. 👍

Kino's Journey (2003). didactic story, parable after parable, each episode a broad question about the world we live in without obvious answers. transmasc main character who points a gun at people rather than talk. for the tboys who unlocked anger after hormones.

Elfen Lied. kinda shocked this one doesn't come up a lot anymore. ero-guro sci-fi horror type thing, main character split personalities, either nonverbal and pissing on the floor to tearing limbs off children for fun. DID-schizo empty spaces-core type shit.

Yuri Kuma Arashi. avant-garde commentary on being gay in Japan. boldly asks the question what if Utena but also hunting each other for sport with rifles and furry cannibalism. Sanrio inspired aesthetics for the age regressors, bow on top.

Le Portrait de Petite Cossette. psychological thriller about obsession and trauma, weird and atmospheric, fucked up visuals. extremely doll-coded in a way that longsleeve enjoyers will probably get on a visceral level, if u know what I mean.

Mnemosyne. fuck it man I'll just list the kinks. age gap lesbians in suits, monster fucker cannibalism, shibari S&M sensory deprivation sexual torture, etc. for freaks with mommy issues who went on gurochan a little too young. goth af.

stopping now because I'm bored and I'm getting too freaky with these, almost shouted out Koi Kaze. whatever, enjoy, bookmark if you must.
