During the Satya Yuga, there was an asura named Mura, a descendant of Brahma Ji. Mura was not only immensely powerful but also exceedingly cruel. His father, Taaljangh, had already established a lineage of terror, but Mura surpassed even his father in strength and ferocity. Mura launched a devastating attack on Swargalok, defeating Indra Dev and the other devas.

He forcefully seized Swargalok, driving the devas away. The devas, feeling helpless and despondent, wandered in search of a solution to reclaim their realm.

In their desperation, they approached Mahadev and narrated their plight. Mahadev, after hearing of their misfortune, suggested that only Shri Vishnu, the preserver of the universe, had the power to defeat Mura.

Acting on this advice, the devas traveled to Kshirsagar, the abode of Lord Vishnu, and began praying fervently for his assistance.

Pleased by their devotion, Shri Vishnu appeared before them and inquired about the source of their misery. Indra Dev explained the situation, narrating how Mura Asura had not only usurped Swargalok but had also instilled fear and chaos everywhere.

Shri Hari, enraged by the atrocities committed by Mura, assured the devas that he would personally intervene.

Taking the devas with him, Shri Vishnu proceeded to confront Mura. Upon reaching the battlefield, Shri Vishnu witnessed the devas scattering in fear, unable to face Mura’s formidable army.

The moment Mura saw Lord Vishnu, he arrogantly challenged him, commanding him to halt. But Shri Vishnu, his eyes blazing with anger, took on his divine form (Divya Roop) and began annihilating Mura’s vast army.

Seeing Shri Vishnu’s unmatched might, Mura’s soldiers panicked and fled.

However, Mura himself stepped forward to face Shri Vishnu, launching a fierce battle. 

The duel continued for a long time, but eventually, Shri Vishnu decided to put an end to the asura’s tyranny. Using his Sudarshan Chakra, he beheaded Mura, thus liberating the devas and restoring peace to Swargalok.

After the battle, Shri Vishnu, fatigued from the fight, entered a cave in Badarikashram to rest. There, he fell into Yoganidra (divine sleep). 

Seizing the opportunity, Mura’s spirit, still vengeful, tried to attack the sleeping Shri Vishnu. At that moment, from Shri Vishnu’s body manifested a radiant divine Feminine Energy , who was none other than Bhagwati Ekadashi.

With her divine energy, she destroyed Mura’s spirit instantly, thus saving Shri Vishnu.

When Shri Vishnu awoke and learned of what had transpired, he was deeply pleased with his Divine Lady. He blessed her and asked her to choose a boon.

The divine lady requested, “O Prabhu, if you are pleased with me, grant me the boon that whosoever observes a fast and worships me on this day (Ekadashi), they shall be blessed with happiness, prosperity, and ultimately attain Moksha (liberation).”

Shri Hari Vishnu happily granted her the boon, declaring, “Ekadashi will now be the most auspicious of all vrats, and it shall be dearest to me. 

My devotees who observe this vrat with devotion shall receive my blessings and achieve Moksha.”

Thus, the sacred vrat of Ekadashi originated and has since been regarded as one of the most significant spiritual practices, beloved by Lord Vishnu and observed by countless devotees to this day.

The Kali Yuga, is the fourth and final age of the world cycle (Yuga Cycle) described in scriptures like the Mahabharata, the Vishnu Purana, and the Bhagavata Purana.

When Kaliyuga descended on earth ?

It was a time when the great war of Kurukshetra had just ended, marking the ending of the Dvapara Yuga. 

Shri Krishna, had fulfilled His divine purpose of restoring dharma by helping the Pandavas defeat the Kauravas. By ending the terror of Kansa , by ending the many Asurā

Krishna, who knew that His time on Earth was coming to an end, retired to the forest of Prabhas Kshetra (modern-day Gujarat).

His Yadava clan, however, was plagued by infighting, fueled by a curse from the sages. 

The clan members, intoxicated and overcome with pride, fought among themselves, leading to their mutual destruction.

This event was foretold as a necessary end to Krishna’s mission on Earth.

One day, while meditating under a tree in Prabhas Kshetra, Shri Krishna lay with His foot partially exposed. 

A hunter named Jara, mistaking His foot for a deer, shot an arrow.

When the hunter approached and realized his mistake, he fell at Krishna’s feet, seeking forgiveness.

Krishna smiled, consoled him, and assured Jara that this was part of the divine plan.

At this moment, Krishna’s mortal form left the Earth, and His divine essence returned to Vaikuntha, the eternal abode of Vishnu. 

This marked the conclusion of the Dvapara Yuga.

Krishna, who had come to Earth with a mortal body, accepted this as the final act of His leela Before leaving His mortal form, Krishna blessed the hunter and ascended to His heavenly abode.

The moment Krishna left the Earth, it is said that Kaliyuga began.

The ancient scriptures state that the precise time of Kaliyuga’s commencement was marked by a rare cosmic alignment. 

The great Indian astronomer Aryabhata calculated this event in his treatise, Aryabhatiya. 

According to him, Kaliyuga began at midnight on February 17/18, 3102 BCE.

The celestial signs that accompanied the start of Kaliyuga included the alignment of the seven visible planets and the rise of the star Revati, indicating the cosmic shift from one era to another.

Even though Kaliyuga is considered the era of spiritual decline, it is also said to be the most favorable time for attaining Moksha.

Shri Krishna assured that whenever adharma prevails, He will incarnate again to restore balance. 

It is believed that Shri Vishnu will appear as Kalki, the final avatar, to end Kaliyuga and usher in a new cycle of creation.

After 14 years of exile, when Bhagwan Rama returned to Ayodhya, Rishi Agastya came to meet him, and they began discussing the battle of Lanka.

 Bhagwan Ramā shared how he had defeated fierce warriors like Ravanā and Kumbhakarna, and how Lakshmanā had also slain powerful demons like Indrajit and Atikaya.

Then, Rishi Agastya said, “Certainly, Ravanā and Kumbhakarn were very brave, but the greatest demon was Meghnad (Indrajit). 

He fought Devaraja Indra in heaven and captured him, bringing him to Lanka. When Brahma asked Meghnad to release Indra, he freed him. 

By slaying the most powerful being, Lakshmanā became the greatest warrior.”

Hearing his brother’s valor praised by Sage Agastya, Shri Rama felt very pleased. 

However, a curiosity arose in his mind as to why Rishi Agastya was saying that killing Indrajit was even more challenging than defeating Ravana.

To satisfy Bhagwan Rama’s curiosity, Rishi Agastya explained, 

“Indrajit had a boon that he could only be killed by someone who had not slept for 12 years, who had not seen the face of a woman for 12 years, and who had not eaten anything for 12 years.”

Listening to Rishi Agastya’s words, Bhagwan Ramā said, 

“During our time in exile, for 14 years, I would regularly give Lakshmana his portion of fruits and flowers. 

I lived in a hut with Sita, and Lakshmana stayed in the nearby hut, 
so he never saw Sita’s face. 

But how could he have gone without sleep for 12 years?” Shri Rama then called Lakshman Ji to ask him about this.

Lakshman Ji replied, “When we went to the mountain, Sugriva asked us to recognize Mata Sita by her ornaments.

I only recognized the anklets on her feet because I had never looked at her directly. 

While you and Mata Sita would sleep in the hut, I kept guard outside all night. Whenever sleep tried to overcome me, I would block my eyes with my arrows.”

Then Lakshman Ji explained about fasting for 12 years, “The fruits and flowers I would gather were divided into three parts by you. 

You would hand me one part, saying, ‘Keep this fruit, Lakshman.’ You never asked me to eat, so how could I consume it without your permission?”

Hearing these words, Bhagwan Rama embraced him. 

Due to these rigorous vows, Lakshman Ji could undertake the courageous task of slaying Indrajit and became renowned as a brave warrior.

Bhagwan Shri Ram was Triloki Nath, so no comparison can be made with him. 

Hanuman Ji was a Rudra Avatar, but Lakshman Ji was the greatest warrior as he killed the powerful demon Indrajit, who had received boons that made him nearly impossible to kill.
