Russia has started systematically destroying large gas processing facilities in Ukraine since the ending and non-renewal of the transit contract that was signed into place before 2022. Since gas transit across Ukraine has ended Russian missile and drone forces have hit several major gas infrastructure targets across Ukraine. 

It’s also interesting to note that one of the potential reasons for the Kursk operation, and the reason the Ukrainians are holding on to the territory with everything they can muster, is because they control the only metering station for the Sudzha pipeline in (you guessed it) Sudzha, Kursk oblast.
