Passing quality is easy to asses : - general variety (part of the foot, zone of the pitch, between the lines, over the top, set pieces...) - playable first time for the receiver - end product (assists, pre assists, key passes...) Number of passes, passes % and stuff is waffles.

Playable first time is about travel time (too long and the defender will close you down), weight (does the receiver need to decelerate, accommodate and shit), cleanliness (bobbles and stuff). A guy like that might be worth accommodating. If he doesn't tick those boxes, pass.

United shouldn't be in for Wharton anyway, they have Bruno. State of their squad demands a Rice or Onana type of signing.
