40% of people have this, and most don't even know it.

This is a fatty liver, and you can have it even if you're skinny.

If you do nothing about it, it can kill you.

Here's how it happens, and what to do to fix it:

The liver is the body's central hub for metabolism, including that of fat.

The problems arise when the liver has more fat than it can deal with.

There are 3 sources of fat the liver deals with:

1. Fat from the diet
2. Fat it makes from carbs
3. Free fatty acids from the fat tissue

There are 2 ways the liver can get rid of fat:

1. Burn it for energy
2. Send it back into the blood for other organs

If you have more of the first 3 than the second 2, you get a fatty liver. Pretty simple - it's an imbalance of fat metabolism in the liver.

But what actually causes this imbalance?

The VAST MAJORITY of fat in fatty liver disease is FREE FATTY ACIDS (or non-esterified fatty acids, NEFA).

These fatty acids are released from the fat tissue during:

◇ Stress
◇ Infection
◇ Insulin resistance
◇ Low carb intake

and get taken up by the liver.

Since most liver fat comes from the fat tissue, and that gets released during stress, 

lowering stress is absolutely vital for solving fatty liver disease.

Inflammation drives liver fat production.

Your liver does make fat from carbs, but:

1. This is normally a negligible portion (5-10%) of the fat in the liver
2. Inflammation is what causes MORE fat to be produced from carbs.

Specifically, inflammation from bacteria in the gut.

Probiotics reverse fatty liver disease in 50% of people.

Because the gut is such a key chronic source of inflammation, using Lacto/Bifido probiotics can actually reduce liver fat.

Probiotics can reduce the systemic inflammation ("leaky gut") from gut bacteria.

Serotonin causes fatty liver disease.

Serotonin is produced in the gut in response to inflammatory / irritating stimuli.

It gets released into the blood where it drives:

◈ Obesity
◈ Insulin resistance
◈ Inflammation
◈ Fatty liver

Cortisol drives liver fat production.

Once again we see that dietary carbs are not necessarily the enemy,

but the underlying state of the body can start turning carbs into fat more.

There's actually a condition called glucocorticoid induced fatty liver for this reason.

Oxidative stress is a primary cause of fatty liver disease.

The liver cannot export fat properly with sufficient oxidative stress. 

This keeps fat in the liver.

Here, the enzyme superoxide dismutase (SOD) is shown to play an indispensable role in fat secretion from the liver.

Superoxide dismutase is dependent on both copper and zinc.

Most of us are OK on copper, but low on zinc, which can lead to oxidative stress and thus fatty liver.

Autophagy protects against fatty liver.

Superoxide dismutase was also shown to be vital for lipophagy - the process by which cells degrade fat properly so they can burn it.

Without lipophagy, the liver's capacity to burn fat is impaired.

Caffeine reverses fatty liver disease... by inducing autophagy.

Caffeine is probably the most protective thing for your liver imaginable.

It helps the liver shed its fat very effectively, and this is partially because it helps induce lipophagy.

Coffee is literally known as the magic bean for liver diseases for this reason.

Drinking more coffee is incredibly protective against every liver disease you can think of.

SEED OILS are REQUIRED for fatty liver disease - even with alcohol.

In fact, fatty liver disease wasn't discovered until a few decades ago, as we started eating more seed oils.

The oxidative damage of the fats in seed oils are what damages the liver and impairs fat export.

Beef tallow prevents alcoholic fatty liver disease.

Corn oil destroys the liver.

In fact, supplementing pure saturated fat can reverse liver disease in animals.

Remove seed oils - fatty liver is reversed.

Reducing linoleic acid, the main fat in seed oils, to 4% of the diet literally cured every single patient of their fatty liver here.

The metabolites of linoleic acid are markers of liver disease.

Seed oils cause fatty liver - vitamin E reverses it.

Vitamin E is essentially the antidote to seed oils.

In this study, we showed that a high linoleic acid (LA, the main fat in seed oils) diet induced obesity and fatty liver.

Adding in vitamin E stopped both.

Infrared light reverses fatty liver.

A major chunk of the sun's energy is dissipated as infrared radiation,

and this type of energy:

The only real way of testing for fatty liver is through imaging tests, like MRI or CT scans.

Tyrosine gets into the brain (to make dopamine) from the blood.

Its uptake into the brain is BLOCKED by other amino acids: BCAAs and tryptophan.

The levels of these other amino acids will be higher after consuming them, and also during stress or insulin resistance.

Another dopaminergic amino acid is PHENYLALANINE.

Phenylalanine is not only a precursor to dopamine,

but it also depletes brain serotonin, which should further enhance dopamine production, since serotonin itself halts dopamine output.

Carbs are important for dopamine production, too.

• Carb restriction frees tryptophan from its binding protein, allowing it to block tyrosine uptake in the brain
• Insulin promotes dopamine release

One HUGE contributor to oxidative stress is excess IRON.

While we need iron for dopamine synthesis, it can easily become toxic if not handled properly.

The iron can accumulate in the dopamine producing centers of the brain and literally rust them, damaging them.

It prevents the inflammatory accumulation of iron in cells.

Bright light is also key because it regulates your circadian rhythm.

Not only is dopamine, like everything else, produced on a time dependent circadian rhythm,

But circadian alignment improves sleep.

Sleep deprivation causes the loss of dopamine receptors in the brain.

This brings us to the regulation of dopamine signaling.

Your baseline (tonic) and stimulated (phasic) dopamine levels should be at the proper levels, and complement each other.

This is regulated by METHYLATION (COMT) - a system we must nourish to fully capitalize on dopamine.

It's been demonized for a century, yet is actually a powerful medicine.

It's anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, cognitive enhancing and even aids in fat loss.

This hilariously iconic article title gets dismissed as pseudoscientific clickbait.

But it’s true: red light does have unbelievable benefits to reproductive health, no matter how ridiculous it seems.

Red and near infrared light has been shown repeatedly to ENHANCE the function of the sex organs: 

▫ Increased fertility
▫ Increased sperm motility 
▫ Increased testosterone output.

What if I told you that simply shining red light on the scalp was at least as effective as the leading drugs for hair loss, without any of the horrible side effects?

Hold your phone flashlight up to your finger. You’ll notice that only the red makes it through.

That’s because only specific wavelengths, or types, of light can penetrate the skin, and facilitate biological effects.

The key action of these specific wavelengths (of the red and near infrared category) is on ENERGY PRODUCTION.

At specific wavelengths, these lights are absorbed by proteins in the mitochondria, which actually directly increases our energy output.

Incandescent lights (composition similar to that of the sun, rich in red and near infrared) were used in the early 1900s by doctors for ailments like obesity, fatigue, diabetes, insomnia and baldness. 

Light therapy is the application of specific types of light to achieve therapeutic effects.

Sometimes red light is used, sometimes infrared, sometimes targeted lasers, sometimes LEDs.

Fundamentally, they all work by the same mechanism: increasing mitochondrial function.

One study showed that near infrared light improved vision in over 95% of patients suffering from macular degeneration, a leading cause of vision loss.

Another study using red and infrared lights led to an improvement in eyesight of over 5 letters!

Red and near infrared lights also protect the brain.

Animal studies have shown that near infrared light can restore the ability of the brain to produce dopamine.

Dopamine production is extremely energy dependent, and restoring the metabolism can help restore motivation.

Of course, sunlight is the traditional way of getting your red and near infrared light in.

Incandescent / halogen lights give a broad spectrum, with a good chunk of red / infrared light.

However, it does seem to be the case that a targeted, wavelength specific device is a more potent and reliable therapeutic option. 

Several studies compare targeted red light to incandescent, with the latter being the placebo effectively. It may have insufficient output at a given wavelength to achieve the therapeutic property.

That is why I use the one mentioned, as it contains all wavelength regions I care about the most. 

It also has a known irradiance and spot size, which are critical to know if trying to implement it properly.

The power and energy density (irradiance and radiant exposure, respectively) are important to know depending on what you are using it for.

Not all lights are created equal.

Both insufficient and excessive doses can compromise outcomes. 

In general, less is more, and just bathing in light therapy can be harmful.

Let’s tackle some strategies to get rid of EYE FLOATERS (and optimize your vision):

TOP: Eyes of someone with bad eye floaters

BOTTOM: 6 months after taking a supplement of:

⬩125 mg l-lysine
⬩40 mg vitamin C
⬩26.3 mg grape vine extract
⬩5 mg zinc 
⬩100 mg sour orange extract

(called VitroCap N)

People taking this supplement had a near 50% improvement in subjective visual discomfort from eye floaters

Well,

After 3 months of eating 2 pieces of pineapple with lunch

Insanity.

IODINE (eye drops) nearly cures eye floaters:

Over 95% of people with floaters saw improvement, regardless of how severe the floaters were.

Unfortunately they do not mention the exact type of iodine eye drop, but this is incredible!

(yes, it’s all in Polish, I translated it)

Nattokinase eliminates eye floaters.

Injected into the eyes (ouch) of animals, it again breaks down the floaters.

No follow up in people, but given the fact that the fruit enzymes work orally, I wouldn’t be surprised if nattokinase can do the same.

Infrared lasers eradicate eye floaters.

This has been extensively studied,

but what’s a free way of getting infrared light to your eyes?

That’s right, sunlight!

This is probably a big reason why studies consistently show outdoor time is related to better vision.

What causes eye floaters?

Most of the eye is composed of collagenous protein and carbohydrates (the vitreous body)

That’s why eyes are like jello, they kind of are, jello is just collagen protein in water.

The floaters themselves are detached, broken bits of the vitreous body

What damages this jello like eye stuff, that causes eye floaters? 

Oxidative stress.

The vitreous body is filled with antioxidants to protect it from this.

The most important is VITAMIN C - extremely concentrated in the vitreous body, more so than anywhere else in the body

But what is the source of the oxidation that causes the vitreous body to degrade, resulting in eye floaters?

The OXYGEN comes from the retina - what actually facilitates vision.

If the eyes do not metabolize the oxygen, it leaks into the vitreous body, resulting in oxidation.

What impairs the metabolism of the eye that results in this oxidation, that ultimately causes eye floaters?

One big one is BLUE LIGHT.

It literally destroys the mitochondria of the retinal pigment epithelium.

It has been shown for over half a century that deficiency in vitamin A destroys vision.

Your body is crying for help, but you're ignoring the signs.

#1 Eye floaters

Those annoying worm looking things you see.

These are actually a sign of poor antioxidant supply and tissue damage.

But it's not limited to your eyes - it's a sign your body is vulnerable. 

ANTIOXIDANTS protect the eyes from floaters.

If you have floaters, you've likely got an antioxidant crisis in the body, which leaves you susceptible to:

◇ Accelerated aging

◇ Heart disease

#3 Ridges in nails

Deep indents in the nails - a sign of inflammation.

#4 Fluorosis

These little white patches in your teeth? Do not ignore them.

It's a sign of fluoride accumulation in tissues.

Challenge: next time you're around lots of people, observe if they have dental fluorosis.

#5 Earlobe crease

Also known as Frank's sign, this is associated with increased risk of:

→ Coronary artery disease
→ Insulin resistance

It's a sign of:

→ Reduced blood flow
→ Impaired elastin synthesis - a critical protein that is important for the health of the arteries 

Earlobe crease triples the risk of severe heart disease.

Out of people undergoing imaging for heart disease, 62% of people had it.

Actually a better predictor than cholesterol.

People applied a "pea sized" amount of 5% niacinamide to the face 2x a day.

Niacinamide (B3) substantially reduced the presence of age spots in the skin.

It also lessened wrinkles and improved skin

BRAIN FOG: It all comes down to ONE thing.

Brain fog wasn't something that was even recognized in medicine,

but that all changed over the last few years.

While most of the attention on COVID was directed towards its respiratory effects,

COVID actually destroys the GUT,

and this is responsible a ton of the severe disease.

This is also ground zero for brain fog. 

Brain fog is VERY common in people with gut issues.

often times, probiotics can actually make it worse,

and antibiotics can improve it.

This tells us that bacterial overgrowth / leakage is the primary mediator of brain fog.

Inflammation poisons the brain

All of these signals:

➔ Disrupt neurotransmitter release
➔ Wreck mitochondrial energy production
➔ Kills brain cells (ROS)

thus, you get brain fog. 

So the simplest way of describing brain fog is:

1. You have bacterial dysbiosis / leaky / inflamed gut
2. Systemic inflammation ensues
3. The blood brain barrier opens
4. You get inflammation in the brain
5. Brain fog

So, we have to focus on the gut, first and foremost.

2 easy and free ways to tell if you have dysbiosis:

1. Coated tongue in the morning (especially in the back)
2. Consistent foamy urine

If these are prevalent along with:

1. Other gut symptoms
2. Brain fog (especially post meal)

your gut bacteria are probably messed up.

Your body is begging you for these nutrients - here are 5 signs it's giving you:

#1 Eye twitches - Magnesium

Magnesium is a calming electrolyte in the nerves.

Creatine is capable of reversing clinical anxiety and depression within weeks, according to some fascinating recent data.

This was a small pilot study in women using amphetamines.

This, to nobody's surprise, is associated with a high prevalence of depression.

Creatine was the tool of choice here mainly because depressed individuals often have low brain creatine stores.

This is especially true in

11 women were enrolled, those with other conditions or who were already on depression treatments were excluded.

They were given 5g of creatine monohydrate per day for 8 weeks.

The participants had dramatic and rapid drops in depression ratings.

After just one week of initiating treatment, depression scores dropped by ~35%.

They continued to plummet, eventually dropping by 63% before creatine was discontinued.

After which, symptoms crept back up, but

The drop in anxiety scores was even more pronounced.

Within a week anxiety scores were down over 50%.

After 7, down over 95%.

Simply stunning.

Now, there's fair criticism here.

It was a small study, no placebo, and in meth users.
