There’s never been a better time to grow your social media following.

Here’s the exact 3 step system I used to get my first 100,000 followers and skyrocket my growth:

First, you need to pick a channel to grow.

The biggest mistake I see people make is trying to grow on too many platforms at once.

My top 2 recommendations for your first channel to grow to 100,000: LinkedIn or X.

These are the “Grand Slam” platforms.

They use written text, which means you can practice your copywriting immediately.

Once you get good at writing copy, you can use that skill anywhere and have a huge advantage.

Second, after you pick your first channel, pick one topic.

When you're on your way to your first 100,000 followers, you want to become known for ONE thing.

For me, that’s Systems. For @jamesclear it’s Habits. For @aliabdaal it’s Productivity.

Make sure it's a topic you love and are an expert on, or at minimum, are exploring at a deep level and sharing your discoveries.

Once you have a channel and your topic, step 3 to blow up with zero budget is to Establish a Posting Cadence.

Consistency is key.

Put in the reps.

If you are consistent, good things happen!

When going from 0 to 100,000, you're learning the skills and language of your chosen platform.

You don’t know anything yet.

But the more reps you put in, the faster you’ll bridge the ignorance gap.

The greater your audience, the more powerful your marketing machine.

The only way to excellence is first through repetition, excellence is a daily habit.

How to Tell a Story on Specific Platforms

Storytelling today is different.

Instead of sitting around a campfire or reading a newspaper, your reader is scrolling thousands of miles away.

If you don’t know how to use each platform, you’re playing the game blindfolded. 

What Good Stories Feel Like

Story reading is like a palette.

When you start, you have no idea what good looks like.

Over time, you develop a “taste” for what you like.

The best storytellers are just story lovers with refined palettes and thousands of reps. 

How to Riff Off One Main Topic

The best storytellers don’t tell a thousand stories; they tell the same story thousands of times.

Each story told gets you closer to the truth, and the truth is what your reader is looking for in your content.

Here’s how I found my topic:

Ikigai

The topic that you choose to use for building your story library needs to be deeply connected to your innermost values.

It also needs to be something the world needs and something you can monetize. 

Ikigai is the exercise to find this. 

Establish Yourself As a Storyteller

When I first started on X and LinkedIn, I had zero followers.

Over time, I built a reputation as someone who consistently shares ideas and stories.

Storytelling is a blend of self-actualization, market analysis, and skill development. 

Hit the Pain Points

Copywriting gets a bad rap, but you don’t have to lie to someone to sell something to them.

Instead, focus on identifying key “pain points” that will drive to act upon hearing your story.

People want to hear the truth, and the truth hurts.

Tell Stories About Important Ideas

• Health
• Relationships
• Wealth
• Happiness

These niches are never going away, no matter how much the world changes.

Smart storytellers tell stories that the market wants to hear. 

Create Characters That People See Themselves In

There’s a lot of variance among people, but we all share similar problems in life.

To reach the masses, you must appeal to emotions that everyone feels while specifically solving one problem.

Write for the person you used to be.

To tell stories that sell, you need to learn:

• The art of storytelling
• The basics of copywriting

Stories that sell are simply well-told stories with the skill of copywriting woven in.

Mastering storytelling is the difference between an entrepreneur and a starving artist.

Here are 10 rules the top 1% of copywriters live by: 

Tangible &gt; Intangible

We want someone to visualize what we’re writing. 

Intangible: “I will help you make more money” 
Tangible: "I will help you make 100k/mo while working 4 hours/day from your laptop in Bali"

See the difference? We can picture the second one. 

Write Like You Talk

Your writing should sound like you’re chatting with a friend. 

Pro tip: Check your work by reading it out loud. 

It helps catch the awkward phrases you wouldn’t say in a normal conversation. 

When you sound human, people trust you more. 

Sell the transformation, Not The Product

Nobody cares about your product features.

They care about:

• Who they'll become
• What they'll achieve
• How their life will change

People buy better versions of themselves. 

Be A Painkiller, Not A Vitamin

There's a huge difference:

• Vitamins = Nice to have
• Painkillers = Need to have
• One sells, one doesn't

Focus on solving urgent problems that keep people awake at night. 

Dumb It Down

The best copy reads at a 5th-grade level.

Why? Because:

• It's easier to understand
• It's easier to read
• It’s easier to trust

Simple writing is powerful writing.

Avoid Passive Voice

Nobody likes awkward, complicated writing.

Compare these:

• Passive: "Revenue was increased by our new product"
• Active: "Our new product increased revenue"

Active is simpler and more direct. 

Clear writing gets read. Complicated writing gets ignored. 

People Buy With Emotion, Justify With Logic

The three phases of selling: emotion, logic, fear.

Your copy should:

• Hook with emotion to grab attention
• Use logic to justify the purchase
• Add FOMO to drive action

Remember: Always be truthful and honest at each step. 

Bad Hook = Bad Results

Your hook is the most important part of any piece of content. 

A great hook:

• Grabs attention
• Creates a curiosity gap
• Gives a clear promise to the reader

Without a strong hook, nothing else matters. 

Write For 1 Specific Person

You aren’t writing for the whole world to read. 

You’re writing for a specific person you can help. 

Understand their problems, dreams, fears, and their daily struggles. 

This helps your content resonate on a much deeper level. 

Compete On Generosity

Give away your best stuff for free.

Why? Because it builds trust and it shows that you know your sh*t.

When you can solve your potential customers’ problems for free, they’ll want the paid version. 

The more you give, the more you'll receive.
